The Skill Essential for Success

Hello everyone!

Today, we will discuss a topic that is very crucial to humanity. I am talking about TIME MANAGEMENT, a quality essential for success that can make a first-time impression on an individual. Over time, I have noticed how tough it is for some people to incorporate it into their daily lives. Let’s define time management in simple terms. It is how you deliberately use your 24-hour window to achieve your daily tasks.

Straightforward right?

If you struggle with time management, don’t sweat; I wrote this blog to help you solve that challenge. Bear in mind: “A reoccurring habit of lateness becomes a stigma.” And I promise you, this blog is to help you mitigate and erase that stigma of being a “latecomer” from you today.

But you’ve got to be willing, though!

Effective time management is essential for everyone who often juggles multiple responsibilities, including work, family, and personal pursuits. Unfortunately, unexpected events and emergencies can disrupt even the best-laid plans. Here is where buffer time comes into play because It is easy to become overwhelmed, stressed, and unproductive.

But first, you must develop these skills:

  • Be self-disciplined
  • Be focused
  • Be organized
  • Be flexible and quick to adapt

How to develop time management skills:

  1. Prioritize your tasks: Figure out what you want to achieve, categorize your tasks, prioritize by identifying what you must do that is urgent and what you must do that is not urgent, and organize them.
  2. Schedule and Allocate Time: Create a daily or weekly schedule that assigns time for specific activities. Set a start and finish time. Use the calendar tool on your phone or scheduling apps to help you stay organized.
  3. Minimize Distractions: Identify common distractions and create an environment that minimizes them. Turn off notifications, find a quiet workspace, or incorporate time blocks to help accomplish your tasks without being overwhelmed.
  4. Create a Time Management Routine: Practice these techniques daily till you experience a drastic change in how you manage time. Be consistent and willing to modify your methods as needed.

Here is a hypothetical time management scenario and tips that could serve as a template for your in-person or virtual appointments. Adjust as needed.

Hypothetical Scenario:

Let’s say you have an appointment at 9 a.m. tomorrow, and it usually takes you up to 45 minutes to get ready. Check out the ETA from your location to the appointment address {let’s say it will take you 40 minutes to get there}.

Tips To Make Your Appointment On Time:

  • Set out your outfits a day before, and iron them if you’re not used to ironing and keeping them.
  • Put together all the necessary things you will need for your appointment.
  • If you have already set the alarm to wake you up one hour 30 minutes before your appointment, adjust the time to wake you up at most 3 hours before your appointment.
  • Your alarm rings at 6 a.m.
  • Time to Wake up and do your morning routines.
  • Take a shower at 6:30 a.m. and be done dressing up at 7:15 a.m. {this is the hypothetical 45-minute get-ready time mentioned earlier}.
  • Eat your breakfast, that’s if you do; if not, that is an extra time to do a last-minute check.
  • Plan to leave your house at 7:45 a.m., so based on the 40-minute ETA, {buffer an extra 30 mins for any unexpected traffic or delays}. You will reach your destination at about 8:30 a.m. or 8:40 a.m. So, by the time you find parking, gather your stuff, and walk into the building for your appointment, you will arrive at a good time, relaxed and coordinated.

Hope the hypothetical template is beneficial.
